Lena and her mother were involved in a collision on Lyng Lane on Friday August 7.

The pair were taken to hospital where Lena died of her injuries. Her 33-year-old mother suffered minor injuries in the collision and was released from hospital days later.

The driver of the Land Rover Freelander - the vehicle involved - was interviewed at the scene and is helping officers with their inquiries.

Sergeant Paul Hughes, from the Collision Investigation Unit, said: "This is a tragic event in which a young child lost her life and our thoughts go out to her family and friends at what must be an incredibly difficult time for them.

"Lena's family have kindly offered this beautiful picture of their little girl but are ? understandably ? too devastated at the moment to put together a full tribute."

He continued that Lena was a 'popular pupil' at Lodge primary school in West Bromwich and had recently received a 'glowing report'.

An inquest into Lena's death was opened and adjourned yesterday.

Anyone with information on the collision should call 101.
