Dudley heroin and cocaine dealer jailed
A drug dealer who was caught with heroin and cocaine by police after they spotted him acting suspiciously has been jailed for 43 months.
Car dismantler Mikeal Boukhari, of Dudley was arrested by plain clothes officers, Stafford Crown Court heard.
Mr Mark Rees, prosecuting, said Boukhari was in Burton, Staffordshire, when he was seen by officers. When they got out of their car and rushed towards him, they saw Boukhari drop something over a wall.
After officers recovered some packages, the tissue wrapped package contained nine wraps of heroin and six of cocaine, with a street value totalling just over £200.
The defendant also had £435 in cash and a mobile phone which contained text messages relating to dealing in cannabis.
Boukhari, aged 34, of Himley Road, Dudley admitted possessing heroin and cocaine with intent to supply and possessing a small quantity of cannabis.
On a basis of plea, Boukhari claimed he was in Burton to look at an Audi car he wanted to buy and to see friends he would share the drugs with.
But in a trial of issue, his story was rejected by Judge Mark Eades who ruled; "I am firmly of the view this defendant is a supplier of class A drugs, although not on a large scale."
The judge told Boukhari: "You have spent most of your life in the twilight zone of illegality."
Stafford Crown Court heard that Boukhari made no comment when questioned by the police, but in his basis of plea he denied dealing drugs to random members of the public.
Mr Rees said the Crown's case was that he was a small scale commercial drug dealer.
Giving evidence, Boukhari said he had been to Sheffield to see his daughter and on the way back stopped off at Derby to buy the cocaine and heroin.
When he saw the plain clothes officers running towards him, he thought he was going to be robbed, so discarded the drugs.
