Shortly before midnight on Friday a 27-year-old man was punched in the face and received minor injuries during an assault at the Pear and Partridge pub on The Parkway.

Police believe this may be connected to another incident on Severn Drive, near to the entrance of Sainsbury's car park, where a second man was stabbed.

The second man, also aged 27, received puncture wounds to his body and was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham. His condition is described as stable.

It is believed the parties involved in the incidents are known to each other.

Police have launched an investigation and are currently pursuing a number of lines of inquiry.

This includes carrying out inquiries at both scenes as well as speaking to the victim to establish exactly what happened. Searches of the locality are also taking place.

Today, local neighbourhood officers were carrying out high visibility patrols in the area to reassure the local community and respond to any concerns.

Anyone with information on either assault, or who knows those involved, is asked to contact DS Adrian Webb on 101 quoting incident number 39 of May 24, or independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
