The ambulance was sent to a flat in Bloxwich High Street to reports of a man who had taken a drugs overdose.

But when the crew arrived a man lashed out and forced paramedics out of the ambulance in Green Lane near Newfield Close in Bloxwich before jumping behind the wheel and driving off.

He made at least two U-turns, before being forced to stop near Green Lane Baptist Church by police.

Officers arrested a man on suspicion of assault and vehicle theft and two male paramedics were taken to hospital but were not seriously injured.

The drama happened at around 3pm on May 15.

The man has been released on bail to a date in June pending further inquiries.
