On each occasion, the robbers entered Pizza Hut in Willenhall Road, Portobello, with crowbars and an axe. They then threatened staff and stole cash from the till.

The chain restaurant was raided on Thursday, March 6, at around 9.30pm. It was also targeted on Thursday, February 20, at 9pm.

Police believe the same offenders could be responsible for both raids and have released CCTV images in a bid to identify them.

DC Damon Millar, from Force CID, said: "We believe the offenders could be from the local area as they made off on foot, so I would urge anyone who recognises them to contact me on 101.

"The owners of Pizza Hut have stepped up security at the premises since the robberies, including personal attack alarms for all staff members."

Meanwhile police are examining forensic evidence taken from the premises and trawling through local CCTV.

Police believe there are up to four masked offenders involved, all of whom wore dark clothing with hooded sports tops.

Those with information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
