Sugar Ray Leonard and George Foreman to appear at Cannock Bar Sport
Boxing legends Sugar Ray Leonard and George Foreman will appear at a sports bar in the coming months, it was announced today.
Former five weight world boxing champion and Olympic gold medallist Leonard will appear at Bar Sport in High Green, Cannock, on March 27.
And former world heavyweight champion George Foreman will also appear around September time on a date yet to be fixed.
Tickets are now on sale for the March event starting from £45, which includes a five-course meal and entertainment including a comedian.
Scott Murray, who owns Bar Sport and the Premier Suite, said: "Sugar Ray Leonard is pound for pound one of the greatest fighters of all time. He is an Olympic champion and incredibly won world titles at five different weights. Last year we welcomed the Real Deal Evander Holyfield to the Premier Suite and now we will be welcoming Sugar Ray Leonard.
"He is a great motivational speaker so I think boxing fans are in for a great night.
"I can also announce that George Foreman will also be appearing at the Premier Suite around September time. This is yet another massive coup not just for Bar Sport and the Premier Suite but for boxing fans in Cannock and across the wider West Midlands."
Sugar Ray Leonard will be appearing at the Premier Suite while he carries out TV work commitments in England.
He had 40 fights in his colourful career over five weight divisions winning 36, losing three and drawing one. He won a gold medal at the 1976 Montreal Olympics in the light welterweight division.
George Foreman won 76 out of his 81 heavyweight fights in a glorious career which also saw him win heavyweight gold in the 1968 Olympic Games held in Mexico. He finally hung up his gloves at the age of 48 back in 1997.
