Pair chasing glory in open mic competition
Nicole Roberts had battled cancer and was celebrating being in remission when she had a chance meeting with guitar teacher Adam Vickers.
It was a musical match made in heaven and fast forward less than a year the pair are now hoping for national glory in a prestigious competition.
It may not have been such a splendid start to their campaign in the national Open Mic UK competition – when they took part in the first audition without even choosing a name and were put on the spot to come up with one there and then.
But – now with the name 3's A Crowd – they are already hitting the high notes and have made it all the way to the finals of the contest.
After getting through the regional heats at Birmingham's NEC, they will return there on Saturday to sing in front of an audience of more than 3,000 people for a chance to win the top prize – £5,000 to spend on developing their sound.
They will also perform in front of judges from major record labels including Sony Music UK, Warner Music Group and Universal.
