Motorist in court over M6 baby death

A motorist has appeared in court charged with causing the death of a baby following a crash on the M6.

Tommy Fryer, 31, was driving a white Mercedes on the M6, near the Cannock turn-off, when he was involved in a collision with another car containing a mother and her three children.

The 11-day-old boy Daewood Hewitt, of Milton Road, Cannock, died the following day.

Fryer, of Duncroft Road, Garretts Green, Birmingham, appeared at Cannock magistrates court yesterday and was sent to Stafford Crown Court for a hearing on February 10.
