Severn Trent Water is spending the money in the Weeping Cross area of Stafford. Work is due to finish by late spring and Cedar Way will be closed.

Severn Trent programme engineer, Dave Kiernan, said: "We want to make sure that our customers continue to receive a reliable water supply."

The firm held a drop-in session recently for residents living in the area.
