The gym installed at West Park in Wolverhampton offers exercise machines, including a leg press, exercise bike, space walker, surfer, chest press, skier and parallel bars, and has been installed next to the tennis courts.

It is similar to one recently introduced to the Renton Road open space in Oxley.

The two new gyms bring the total now available across the city to 24, and have been installed with a grant from Wolverhampton's Public Health team.

Councillor Elias Mattu, Wolverhampton. City Council's cabinet member for leisure and communities, said: "They are suitable for people of all ages and fitness levels and best of all they are free to use."

The Friends of West Park were among those calling for the introduction of the outdoor gym, and Monica Evans, their acting chairman, said: "We are really excited to see the new gym equipment in place."
