Enthusiasts to bring own vehicles for Penkridge transport festival
Hundreds of vehicles ranging from classic cars to steam engines will be going on show at a transport festival this weekend.
The LDF Transport Festival and Fayre will also feature live band entertainment, market stalls, a beer tent and a firework display.
It is being held at Lower Drayton Farm in Penkridge on Saturday and Sunday, with camping spots available from Friday evening.
Organiser Helen Borton, managing director of Chase Transport Events, decided to launch the festival as an alternative to the Chasewater Transport Show, which she organised for five years but has now ended.
Ms Borton said: "It is all about keeping these things local. The nearest car and transport shows to where I live are in Lichfield and Weston Park; there wasn't anything for Cannock, but there is now."
Enthusiasts from as far afield at Southampton and Cumbria will be bringing their vehicles to the show for visitors to admire.
Around 25 volunteers have been working to ensure the day is a success.
Ms Borton said: "The Chasewater Transport Show was only an annual event and it went from strength to strength in a very short space of time, so we're hoping we can do the same here.
We have big plans to put as many as four or five shows on next year, too.
"As each event happens we will have, hopefully, more financial input so that we can eventually hold events at the Staffordshire County Showground."
Tickets for the weekend event cost £5 for adults or £2.50 for 12 to 16-year-olds. Entry is free for children.
Day tickets for Saturday include entrance to the evening firework display, which kicks off at 8.30pm and live music performances afterwards.
On Friday evening there will be a disco.
