Angler saves man when wheelchair goes in Willenhall lake
A man in an electric wheelchair was rescued by a fisherman after falling into a lake at Willenhall Memorial Park.
The man, who was in his 60s, was pulled to safety by the quick-thinking bystander. Both men were given a check-up at the scene by paramedics and were taken to hospital as a precautionary measure.
Firefighters, who arrived at the scene just after the drama unfolded on Saturday afternoon, said the angler was a life-saver.
Crew commander Jonny Pearson, from Willenhall station, said: "The guy that jumped in most probably saved his life.
"The man in the wheelchair was paralysed from the waist down and I am not sure how well he could swim."
