Walsall canal death is not suspicious

The death of a man found in a canal in Walsall has been handed to the coroner.

Police are not treating the death of the man, named locally as Stephen Keats, as suspicious. The death has been referred to Black Country coroner Robin Balmain.

The victim, believed to be in his late 30s, was pulled from the water near Slacky Lane bridge, in Bloxwich, on Saturday night.

He was pronounced dead at Walsall Manor Hospital.

Meanwhile, the body of a woman was pulled from Main Line Canal in Wolverhampton at 5.45am today.
