Wednesbury worker trapped by machinery

A man suffered leg injuries after he became caught in machinery in Wednesbury.

Published Jun 1, 2013

The 46-year-old was trapped in a cardboard compactor skip, which has a machine that crushes cardboard, at about 1.15pm at Wednesbury Trading Estate.

Station Commander Steve Harris said about 20 firefighters, including teams with expertise in technical rescue, worked with doctors and paramedics to free the man.

The man, who had been trapped up to both ankles, was then airlifted to Birmingham's Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
