Arrest over man shot dead in Birmingham pub
Detectives investigating the murder of a man shot dead at a Birmingham pub have arrested a man.
Officers arrested a 33-year-old as he got off a plane from Thailand at Birmingham Airport just after 7.30pm last night.
Marlon O'Reilly was shot at the Dovecote pub in Cockshut Hill in Sheldon at around 5.45pm on May 10.
Investigators have been following a number of leads as part of the investigation and one line of inquiry remains that Marlon was a victim of mistaken identity and was killed while having a drink with friends at the pub.
It is also believed that the shooting was connected to an earlier incident that day at the GA Gym in Garrets Green Lane where police were called after a man suffered slash wounds.
A man is now in police custody on suspicion of murder and will be questioned today. Three other men and a woman were previously arrested and bailed in connection with both incidents.
Det Insp Warren Hines said: "We have carried out a thorough investigation following the tragic events which saw Marlon lose his life. Officers have been working around the clock to compile evidence and have carried out forensic searches and trawled through CCTV footage and this is still a very fast-moving inquiry.
The community have also proved critical to our progress and a large amount of information has been received from witnesses and other local people."
