Luke Walker murder trial in Crete hears girlfriend's injuries caused by 'immense force'
The trial in Crete of Black Country murder suspect Luke Walker has heard that the injuries which killed his girlfriend were caused by 'immense force'.
And the mother of the dead woman, 20-year-old Chelsea Hyndman, has also given evidence in the case.
Greek prosecutors allege that Walker, aged 25, of Gayfield Avenue, Brierley Hill, murdered Miss Hyndman by hitting her in the stomach at the apartment they shared in the island's resort of Malia.
But Walker, who denies murder, claims the injuries which killed her were caused when she fell during a night out with friends.
Miss Hyndman's mother, Heather, of Castleford, Yorkshire, was emotional as she told the court, in the Cretan capital of Heraklion, about the moment she found out about her daughter's death.
She said she wrote to Walker when he was arrested and told him he would 'have to face the consequences' if he was responsible.
She added that a pathologist had told her that her daughter's injuries were consistent with her being kicked and punched.
The trial heard that Chelsea died from 'multiple organ failure'.
Pathologist Epida Spanoudaki said Miss Hyndman suffered injuries to her liver and pancreas, which were caused by 'immense force' and could not have been caused by something such as a 'knock to furniture'.
