Wolves legend Dave Wagstaffe back in hospital

Wolves legend Dave Wagstaffe is in hospital after suffering an internal bleed following recent heart surgery.

The former winger, who had 12 seasons at Molineux, suffered a heart attack two weeks after turning 70 in April.

He had a stent fitted at Wolverhampton's New Cross Hospital after undergoing an emergency operation to have an artery unblocked.

Wagstaffe was released from hospital after less than a week, and was recovering at his Tettenhall home before the latest setback.

His partner Val Williams posted on Facebook that Wagstaffe had been re-admitted to hospital.

She said said the former Wolves star was due to have a scan and that he remained 'comfortable'.

During his time with the club, Wagstaffe made 404 appearances.

Following surgery last month, the Wolves great, known universally as 'Waggy', praised staff at Wolverhampton's New Cross Hospital, declaring that they had saved his life.

The 70-year-old wing idol had to have a stent fitted after having an artery unblocked.

At the time, Miss Williams said Wagstaffe, who was a regular smoker during his playing days but quit smoking eight years ago, had been feeling 'tired and lethargic' before being rushed in for emergency surgery.
