Primark seeks recruits for £200m West Bromwich store
Budget clothing store Primark has started recruiting for staff at its new store which opens at the £200 million New Square development in West Bromwich later this year.
The clothing giant is now advertising managerial positions at the town centre store with salaries ranging from £21,865 up to £34,160.
It comes Tesco, which is delivering the development, has also leased the last remaining space at Guardian House in West Bromwich from Black Country property agents Bond Wolfe. The venue will be used to train the 400 staff at the Tesco Extra store which anchors the scheme.
The Primark jobs in West Bromwich can be viewed on the company's website.
The new shop in the town is part of the £200m New Square development off Cronehills Linkway. Other retailers to have signed up include Next, Outfit and JD Sports, while Nandos, Prezzo, Costa Coffee and Harvester will also be opening outlets.
The first phase of New Square will open in June with the Tesco store, Odeon Cinema, Next, Bank and the restaurant units due to open. The whole development is expected to create around 1,200 jobs.
Primark is also due to open a new shop in Walsall town centre as part of the £21 million revamp of the Old Square Shopping Centre. Around 100 jobs will be created as part of the scheme which has been in the pipeline for several years. Last week the retailer, which also has branches in Wolverhampton and Merry Hill Shopping Centre, announced that sales were up 24 per cent in the first half of its trading year.
Meanwhile, Tesco has leased a 4,500 sq ft suite at the nearby Guardian House office block as the supermarket giant prepares to train new staff for the development. Totalling 248,000 sq ft of retail space, there will be a 139,000 sq ft Tesco Extra store.
