Man arrested following hit-and-run in West Bromwich
A man has been arrested following a hit-and-run collision in West Bromwich which has left another man fighting for his life in hospital.
Police arrested the 25-year-old man on suspicion of failing to stop at the scene of a road traffic collision at 9am this morning.
He remains in custody as police carry out a major investigation to find the driver responsible for the collision, which happened in Black Lake at 9.40pm last night.
A man, aged 43, suffered serious injuries after he was struck by a car while crossing the road.
Today, he is in a coma at Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
Sergeant Gavin Green is appealing for witnesses of the crash to come forward.
He said police had examined the scene for forensic evidence and were also looking at CCTV footage of the incident.
He said: "To assist, I would ask that anyone who was in the area at the time the man was struck by the car to call us immediately.
"I am particularly keen to hear from anyone who spots a car with front end damage and a broken windscreen."
Police say the make or model of the car which struck the man is still unknown.
