Man arrested after Express & Star van theft released

A man arrested after an Express & Star delivery driver was injured when his van was stolen in Willenhall has been released on police bail.

The 65-year-old driver suffered a head injury after being thrown to the ground while trying to stop the Ford Transit being taken from Castle Drive.

The van was recovered soon after the incident at 1.05pm on Friday.

A man aged 28, from Wolverhampton, was arrested on suspicion of taking a vehicle without consent.

He has been bailed pending further inquiries.

The driver was airlifted to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham.

His condition at the hospital was described as serious but stable.
