Battle of the sexes in Cannock Valentine's challenge
Men and women will fight it out during a battle of the sexes at a fitness centre in Cannock.
The unusual Valentine's-inspired charity event will take place at BC One CrossFit, based at Walford Works in Longford Road, on Sunday.
The Valentine Throwdown will see 40 men and 40 women in teams of 10 take part in various strength and endurance challenges.
Money is being raised for the Missing People charity and Valentine's Day cupcakes are being made and sold to raise funds.
BC One CrossFit owner Ian Stanley has already raised hundreds of pounds for the charity by taking part in various sponsored fitness events including a 2.6-mile tyre flip and 26-mile row.
He wanted to tie the Valentine's Day event in with the business's first-year anniversary on February 20.
He said: "The throwdown event should be lots of fun and we are hoping to raise lots of money for the Missing People charity in the process.
"It really has been a fantastic year for BC One CrossFit Cannock, in that time, we have grown so much.
"We have hosted some of the biggest and best CrossFit competitions with competitors who have travelled from all over the country to take part.
"It would be great for people who are interested in joining BC One to come along on Sunday to cheer the teams on or pop in on our anniversary day where we will be celebrating with lots of birthday cake."
Craig Owen, who runs the fitness centre's sports injury clinic, added: "It is fantastic to be a part of BC One CrossFit and to see it grow so much over the last year.
"We are all proud of Ian and what he has achieved here."
There will be special anniversary workouts held on February 20 and a free class at 7.45pm for anyone interested.
CrossFit, originally from America, covers a broad spectrum of fitness with workouts are typically short, varying between 15 and 45 minutes.
