Little Charlie Harris-Beard, aged two, died surrounded by family at Birmingham Children's Hospital yesterday afternoon.

Thousands of tributes were left on Facebook for the youngster, from Kidderminster. The family tweeted through Charlie's Twitter page, saying: "Heaven gained another angel today."

Charlie had been admitted to the hospital at the end of January in the hope he would be able to take part in a new drug trial. But his family said this was postponed on Monday.

The young boy had been diagnosed with acute mye-loid leukaemia in April 2011 – aged 10 months. In September 2012 Charlie relap-sed and by November doct- ors said there was nothing more they could do for him.

His parents Joe Beard and Fiona Harris decided within days to tie the knot with Charlie as best man.
