A worker at scandal-hit Stafford Hospital has been suspended after going on a "frolic" and taking photographs of patients on their mobile phone.

It comes hot on the heels of another member of staff being suspended after a baby was found at the hospital with a dummy taped to its face.

An investigation has been launched into the latest incident, which emerged at a board meeting of Mid Staffordshire NHS Foundation Trust yesterday.

The trust has refused to say if it was a man or woman and what position they hold.

Colin Ovington, director of nursing and midwifery, said: "The staff member went off on a frolic and took pictures of patients on their phone. A number of staff have been interviewed this week about the incident."

A report states: "The incident involved a member of staff photographing patients against trust policy.

"The action we took was to immediately suspend the member of staff involved and start our investigation."

Police are also carrying out an investigation into the staff member who is alleged to have taped a dummy to four-month-old Mason Fellows's face in January.
