£2m to be spent on West Midlands NHS refurbs
More than £2 million will be spent improving hospital maternity units in the West Midlands region.
A government grant will be used to upgrade maternity facilities in Staffordshire, Dudley, Walsall and Wolverhampton.
Health trusts applied for a slice of the £25m UK-wide funding pot in November.
And the cash will be spent on a wide range of projects such as new birthing pools, wet rooms, en suite rooms and major refurbishments of existing facilities.
The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust, which runs New Cross Hospital, has received £170,000 for new parent accommodation to be installed in the neonatal unit, alongside other improvements, while Mid-Staffordshire NHS Foundation Trust received £40,000.
Colin Ovington, director of nursing and midwifery, said he was delighted with the grant.
"We plan to use this money to improve the facilities within the maternity unit for new dads," he said.
