Dudley Zoo animals enjoy the snow - In pictures
[gallery] Staff and animals at Dudley Zoo woke up to a blanket of snow today – with forecasters saying the worst of the winter weather is now over.
The grounds of the Castle Hill site were carpeted in a layer of snow leaving creatures including the tapirs and wallabies to investigate their new-look surroundings.
Although both species would normally be found in warmer climates, they didn't seem too bothered by the wintry scene before them. Around 2cm of snow fell overnight, with temperatures expected to reach 5C(41F) during the day before plunging as low as -5C(23F) overnight.
Met Office forecaster Helen Roberts said: "The only real risk of significant snow in the region today is in north Staffordshire."
Temperatures are tomorrow predicted to be around 2C(36F) with dry and sunny weather. The forecast for the rest of the week is cold but mainly dry with no snow.
