Staffordshire Police is hoping to ease the problem by using the order to disperse groups of young drivers who tear through the streets.

The proposal was being heard at the High Court in Birmingham today.

Boy racers gather at Orbital Retail Park and Longford Island. They are accused of speeding, driving without insurance and disrupting nearby residents.

The order could result in signs put up warning that drivers face jail if groups of more than three cars gather.
