Calls for pitches at site of Cannock Stadium
A new stand and extra football pitches are the most popular ideas to transform the Cannock Stadium site, it emerged today.
Council leader George Adamson revealed a report on the proposals will be submitted to the decision-making cabinet next month, with work on a seven-figure scheme expected to start later in the year.
More than 400 responses were sent in to a consultation after Councillor Adamson announced the council was committed to refurbishing the stadium site on Pye Green Road.
He said: "We're delighted with how well the consultation has been received and there's a real mixture of replies, from schools as well as football and athletics clubs as you might expect.
"Football has been the most popular suggestion. We have got three pitches at the moment but there's room for more.
"We would be looking for changing rooms and a stand to be built as well."
