Review of proposals on Stafford Hospital
The final recommendations of the public inquiry into standards of care at Stafford Hospital will be reviewed by four new independent assessors. Results of the 13-month inquiry are due in January.
Chairman of the public inquiry Robert Francis QC has appointed the four independent health experts to give him advice and review his proposed final recommendation.
Once made, this will be submitted to the secretary of state.
The four are Dr Judith Smith, head of policy at the Nuffield Trust; Professor Peter Homa CBE chief executive of Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trusts; Sir Cyril Chantler, chairman of University College London Partners and Nigel Edwards,a senior fellow at the King's Fund.
Mr Francis said: "All of them have provided input during earlier stages of the inquiry and they will bring a wealth of experience and knowledge, which will be invaluable in the concluding phase of preparing the report."
