Fans hassle The Hoff at Memorabilia Birmingham NEC show

[gallery] Thousands of movie, comic and film fans descended on the NEC as Memorabilia Birmingham came to the city.

Knight Rider star David Hasselhoff, who was charging £25 for an autograph, was the main attraction at the event which included stars of the big and small screen along stalls selling and displaying memorabilia and other collectables.

Some of the estimated 30,000 visitors even donned costumes for the occasion, with Darth Vader, Planet of the Apes and Batman among those seen in the arena.

Hasselhoff, known as The Hoff, was supporting the 30th anniversary of his 1980s hit series Knight Rider Other stars included The Terminator star Michael Biehn who was charging £20 for an autograph, while Britt Ekland was charging £15.

David Hasselhoff said: "It's great to put a face behind the fans and speak to them, it's much different to other conventions, this is a chance to get to know people.

"Most of the people that come grew up with me in Baywatch or Knight Rider and bring their children."

First in the queue to see The Hoff was Wolves fan Dave Egan, aged 33, a teacher who lives in Cardiff, Wales.

"I wanted to come up and see The Hoff and see other people, it's a great opportunity to meet people," Mr Egan said.

'Allo 'Allo! stars Kim Hartman and Richard Gibson, who starred as Helga and Herr Flick, were also at the event and were using it as an opportunity to support wildlife charity Our Disappearing Planet.
