The A4-sized metal sheets were scattered across Spon Lane South near the junction with Kenrick Way.
West Midlands Police spokeswoman Gina Lycett said they were called to the scene at 6.50am but left Sandwell Council officers to clean up the road.
She said: "We were called to a report of a lorry that had shed a load of A4 metal sheets across the carriageway. It looks like the lorry driver was not aware the vehicle had shed its load and carried on with the journey."
Sandwell Council's road boss councillor Ian Jones said: "One of the street scene inspectors has been out to Kenrick Way and the load has been cleared."
