Wolverhampton toy firm on attack for Christmas sales

A toy company is preparing for a bumper Christmas, with two of its latest award-winning toys expected to be big sellers.

Wolverhampton firm Wow! Stuff's Attacknids and Singalongz are already on sale in toy shops across the country.

Attacknids are part of Wow's new Combat Creatures range. The six-legged radio-controlled battling robots, which cost £69.99, fire foam plastic discs. Singalongz are cuddly toys equipped with a microphone which repeat back what a child sings in their own voice. They cost £29.99 and are aimed at children over three.

The robot was one of 12 toys chosen in the 2012 Dream Toys Awards' techzone category and won a silver medal in the electronic class in the 2012 Independent Toy Awards.

It was highly commended in the radio-controlled category in the Toy Talk Awards. Singalongz were also in the top five in the electronic toys category in the Mums' Choicer Awards 2012 and highly commended in the electronic toy section in the Rainbow Awards for Toy Excellence.

Wow! Stuff, based at Wolverhampton Science Park, was founded by entrepreneur Richard North in 2006 and has grown to have an annual turnover of £30 million.

The 10in tall Attacknids have been named top boys' toy of the year by The Entertainer shop chain.
