But while these reality TV stars couldn't be more different, both attracted scores of fans when they appeared in the Black Country.

After wowing the crowds with his dancing skills, the first four-legged winner of talent show BGT is going to woo them with his writing – as he has published his own autobiography.

Pudsey along with owner Ashleigh Butler visited Merry Hill shopping centre in Brierley Hill to meet his adoring fans and sign copies of the book called Pudsey: My Autobidography.

Dozens of people had lined up at the Waterstones shop, in the shopping centre to meet the six year old mongrel – border collie, bichon frise, Chinese crested cross – and his 17-year-old owner.

Pudsey sat next to Ashleigh whilst they signed copies of the book and greeted fans. The book which is written from Pudsey's point of view tells the story of his life before Britain's Got Talent and his training.

Ashleigh said: "It was really fun to do. We had to look back at his past and think about what it was like for him. It's great because all the animals in the book are real, and were part of our lives."

Pudsey is not shying away from the limelight as he is set to star in a Christmas film adaptation of David Walliam's book Mr Stink. In between book signings and filming, the pair are now busily preparing for their Royal Variety Show appearance next month. Ashleigh said: "Pudsey loves all the attention and loves getting his picture taken."

Of the Royal Variety Performance she said: "I'm really nervous and excited. We have been busy rehearsing, and I just want to make it really special, and we don't want to let anyone down. People know what we can do now, so they will be expecting a lot."
