Acid attack wrecks cars in West Bromwich
[gallery] Vandals attacked cars with acid on a residential street, stripping the paintwork back to the metal and causing thousands of pounds worth of damage.
Horrified residents on Francis Ward Close, West Bromwich, woke this morning to find their cars, which had all been parked on their drives overnight, had been targeted.
The corrosive liquid had been poured on the roofs, bonnets and doors of seven cars. Police are investigating the attack.
Maureen Bourne, aged 59, discovered her Vauxhall Astra had been damaged at around 5am, when her husband left the house for work.
The mother of two said: "We originally thought it was ice, but when we looked closer we could see the paint had been completely stripped off.
She added: "I am just so angry that someone would do this, we are completely gutted."
Sukjinder Singh, a fish and chip shop owner, has only had his Audi TDI since July, and was angry to see the paintwork on its roof and boot streaked with corrosive marks.
He said: "I'm not happy to say the least. It's not nice to open your door first thing in the morning and see something like that has happened to your car." Mr Singh, a father-of-two, suffered twice as his Ford Focus was also damaged around its boot and indicators.
Diamond Bus driver Davinder Singh, aged 59, was greeted by the sight of damage to the rear, left passenger window on his three-year-old Proton Impian.
The father-of-two said: "It's certainly not a nice way for me to start my time off."
