The Government's Insolvency Service, which is funded by the tax payer, has processed 33 out of 38 claims by former staff at WR Advertising Limited.
One claim has been rejected completely because the claimant's employment could not be verified and four others have been put on ice because vital forms have not been returned.
The highest paid claimant is getting £9,375 while one worker received £1,080.
Insolvency Service spokesman Ade Daramy said £255,599.34 had been paid out in total so far.
WR Advertising Limited ceased trading in June.
