Start date for work on £3.5m hotel
The start of work on a new £3.5million hotel in a Dudley business park will begin next month.
West Bromwich-based contsruction firm Anglo Holt will begin building the three-storey Premier Inn after being appointed as contractors by developer Stoford this week.
The 63-bedroom hotel at Castlegate Business Park will create 25 new jobs and is expected to welcome its first customers in autumn next year.
It will include a groundfloor restaurant and cafe, plus 60 car parking spaces. The development, approved by planners from Dudley Council earlier this year, is led by property developer Stoford.
Dan Gallagher, joint managing director of Stoford said: "We are delighted to be starting on site on a development that will not only create new jobs, but also support local businesses and boost tourism.
Developer Stoford is also working on other schemes in the region include a shopping centre in Oakham Road, Sandwell and a convenience store in Hill Top, West Bromwich. The land where the hotel will be built on is owned by the Homes and Communities Agency, whose head of operations Anne-Marie Simpson, said: "This project will further improve the offer of Castlegate Business Park as a destination venue and also the wider regeneration of Dudley which we are supporting. "
John Bates, head of acquisitions for Premier Inn owners Whitbread Hotels , said: "Castlegate is an ideal location for a new Premier Inn in the Black Country, with great road access and plentiful restaurants and entertainment nearby ."
