The Nawaab chain, which already has a Manchester branch, is opening underneath the Junction One Fitness Centre, High Street.

The owners of Junction One brothers Jagiri Lal and Jagdish Lal have reached a deal to rent out the space underneath the fitness centre on the second floor.

Mr Lal today welcomed the granting of a planning application allowing the change of use of the gym's ground floor, paving the way for the restaurant.

He said: "We have agreed a deal with the Nawaab restaurant in Manchester to rent out the ground floor. It is going to be a buffet-style restaurant I understand.

"It is good for it to be in use and for new jobs to be created."

It is not yet known how much the refit will cost.
