An events company in Cannock is being investigated over delivery delays to almost 200 V Festival tickets, which sparked angry scenes.

Worried customers confronted staff at Find U Tickets about the problems, with the police being called on three separate occasions to keep the peace.

The boss ended up delivering tickets to people's homes himself because of the delays. He was even forced to travel to the festival to hand over the remaining tickets as customers arrived at the Weston Park site.

Pat Corfield, Staffordshire Country Council cabinet member for culture and communities, said: "We have received complaints about the sale of V Festival tickets by Find U Tickets in Cannock.

"Our Trading Standards officers are in contact with the company and asking for information before deciding what action, if any, to take."

People had been promised their tickets by the Tuesday before the weekend festival and headed to the store, in Cannock Shopping Centre, when they failed to arrive.

Darryl Kenyon, who runs the business with two other family members, admitted there had been problems. But he claimed 192 of the 196 people who booked through the firm received their tickets in time for the event, with four people opting for refunds instead. "As far as I am aware, Trading Standards came to see us last Thursday and they were happy with us," he said.

Mr Kenyon said he was promised 196 V Festival tickets by the Tuesday but only 21 arrived.

"So we had to ring people and tell them," he said. "And then we had people coming to collect them over the following days. All of them arrived, but it was getting closer and closer to the event," he said.

He said he used three different ticket suppliers, but would not reveal their identities or what the nature of the problems were. He said just 50 tickets will be issued next year.
