A divorced father of two who had sex with a 15-year-old West Midlands schoolgirl he met via the internet has been jailed for three years and four months.

Clive McCarron, aged 50, first had contact with her through the teen site My LOL before they started to converse through the MSN instant messaging service and the internet phone link Skype.

The asbestos cleaning company employee from Bedfordshire met the girl near her school during a break in lessons while she was wearing her uniform, Wolverhampton Crown Court was told. He returned a few days later in a van and took her to Baggeridge Country Park where they had sex, said prosecutor Mr Howard Searle.

This happened on several occasions between October 2010 and the following January, the court heard.

At one stage she had groundless fears that she was pregnant. The girl told a woman she met through a computer gaming site about the relationship and was advised to report the matter, Mr Searle added.

McCarron, of Keysoe, Bedfordshire, who was of previous good character, was arrested on November 30.

Mr Ian Windridge, defending, said McCarron had been "hit hard" by his divorce and when he was given a laptop computer for work by his firm it was "like a boy opening a box of sweets." McCarron admitted six offences of sexual activity with a child.

He was put on the Sex Offenders Register for life and banned from ever working with children.
