Schoolboys across the country have donned the Liam look but he prepares to celebrate thurning 19 this month the X Factor star has opted for a more mature, shorter cut with a quiff.
Bushbury's Liam follows in the footsteps of fellow pop star Justin Bieber who had his trademark long locks cut around the time he turned 18.
Liam's hairdressers in Wolverhampton is Royston Blythe hair salon in Compton. Joint owner Nick Malenko said the heart-throb was now looking "a lot more grown up" with his new do.
Mr Malenko said: "We didn't cut Liam's hair this time but he still comes in to see us every time he is home.
"His mum and sisters also come to us to get their hair done. Liam has a great face so he can't really go wrong with his hair.
"When you're in the public eye like Liam is, you need to change your style quite often. One Direction are the biggest boyband in the world right now. They have to keep interest going by changing. This cut is a little bit more grown up for Liam. He is 18-years-old now so is growing into a young man."
It was revealed yesterday that One Direction have notched up 12 million sales in under a year.
Syco and Sony Music have given the band a special disc to mark eight million singles, three million albums and one million DVDs. The band was put together during X Factor in 2010 but are now international stars. Their debut album Up All Night went to the top of the US album chart in March.
