A £10 million extra care housing scheme is being planned in Wednesbury, council bosses said today.
The proposed complex will be on land at Dial Lane and Ebenezer Street.
It will be the latest scheme of its kind in the borough with similar developments already in West Bromwich and Smethwick.
Borough neighbourhood chief Councillor Ian Jones said: "Land has been identified for an extra care facility which will benefit Wednesbury residents in the main.
"There is one in Smethwick, West Bromwich and now one in Wednesbury."
Councillor Jones said the land identified for redevelopment has laid empty for around five years.
"It is a large piece of land where there was once a tall block of flats and low rise flats and houses which have all been demolished leaving a large piece of land suitable for the extra care facility."
The scheme will provide sheltered accommodation for elderly people with facilities on site including community rooms, hairdressers and apartments.
If approved it will be developed in partnership with Housing 21.
If approved, the development will be funded by the council and money from the Homes and Communities Agency.
