Stafford worker hurt as club is raided

A sports and social club was targeted by raiders who assaulted a worker and threatened him with an iron bar before fleeing with thousands of pounds worth of cash.

A sports and social club was targeted by raiders who assaulted a worker and threatened him with an iron bar before fleeing with thousands of pounds worth of cash.

Two burglars targeted the Stafford Post Office Sports and Social Club on School Lane in the Rickerscote area of Stafford.

As well as stealing cash from the till, two bottles of alcohol were also taken. Both men then ran from the club are believed to have got into a car.

The raid happened between 12.30am and 12.50am on Tuesday when one man entered the club and demanded money.

A worker at the club, a man in his 40s, who was on duty at the time was assaulted and threatened with the iron bar. He received minor injuries but did not require hospital treatment.
