There were diamonds, pearls and sequins galore when Dynasty legends Kate O'Mara and Joan Collins met Her Majesty The Queen in London.O'Mara, 72, travelled to the capital for the Diamond Jubilee arts celebration yesterday.

She is currently starring in Murder on the Nile at Wolverhampton's Grand Theatre but did not appear in yesterday's matinee or evening performances.

The bash, which saw music, dance and art celebrities gather to pay tribute to the Queen at the Royal Academy of Arts, also marked Joan Collins's 79th birthday.

While Collins stepped out in a cream ruffled dress and embellished clutch bag, O'Mara wore a draped purple gown and leopard-print bag and heels.

Mrs Collins said of Her Majesty: "I'm such a great admirer of her. I think she is the most wonderful, incredible woman and just a great Queen.

"There will never be anyone like her again. I always want to know what she keeps in the handbag."

U2 frontman Bono and Sir Paul McCartney were also present, as were Dame Shirley Bassey, singer Jamie Cullum, Dame Judi Dench, author Philip Pullman, rapper Tinie Tempah and comedian Harry Hill.

Designer Vivienne Westwood also attended, as did supermodel Agyness Deyn.

Collins and O'Mara both made names for themselves in Dynasty as Alexis Colby and her scheming sister Caress Morell.

O'Mara is now playing another villain, Helen Ffoliot-Ffoulkes in the Agatha Christie thriller at the Grand.

The women were among 850 luminaries at yesterday's event.
