Student Becky Hill is carrying the hopes of the region after getting through to the live stages of the BBC's hit singing show The Voice.

The 18-year-old from Kidderminster went thro-ugh after she excelled in last night's taut battle during the sing-offs round. But two Black Country hopefuls were not as successful as Becky.

Black Country Museum worker Lindsey Butler, from West Bromwich, lost out to Matt and Sueleen while Dudley barmaid Jenny Jones was defeated in Saturday night's sing-off with Joelle Moses.

As part of Team Jessie, Becky went head-to-head with pop duo Indie and Pixie in their battle performance of Irreplaceable by Beyoncé last night.

Judge Danny wasn't impressed with Pixie and Indie and said he would pick Becky if it was his choice, but will.i.am surprisingly said he would choose the duo. After much deliberation Jessie selected Becky.

Meanwhile, 25-year-old Jenny said she was disappointed not to make it through.

"It was very emotional watching the show on Saturday because it really hit home to me that now it's all over and that I won't be taking part in the live shows.

"But then I also think I was very lucky to get as far as I did."

Coach Will.i.am had challenged Jenny and Joelle to sing Chaka Khan's 'I'm Every Woman' saying they were both "mega-divas in the making".

He chose to send Jenny home but later reassured the former Bishop Milner pupil, saying his decision was not based on a belief she does not have what it takes to be a top singer.

However, Jenny said she felt she was destined to lose as soon as she was paired against one of will.i.am's favourite acts.
