Retired Mary Clarke-Mortiboys, of Mellish Road, was nominated to be a torchbearer by her husband Alan for her 40 years' commitment to adult learning and for her fundraising walks.
The 63-year-old grandmother-of-six is hoping all her family cheers her on as she carries the Olympic flame on June 30.
She is a member of Walk On Walsall, which organises a number of free weekly health walks, and took part in a walking marathon in 2010, raising over £1,200 for breast cancer charities.
"I am thrilled and honoured to be given the opportunity to carry the Olympic torch in the town I have lived in all my life," she said.
Meanwhile Stuart Pearce announced his latest line-up for the Great Britain football squad for the Games.
David Beckham's Olympic dream remains intact along with Wolves striker Steven Fletcher and Albion captain Chris Brunt. Pearce's new list is down to 80 players
