A mother of two was today appearing in court charged with the murder of her 92-year-old war veteran neighbour Bill Davis.

Charlotte Frazier-Doody arrived at Wolverhampton Magistrates Court today to face a charge of killing the pensioner in his Willenhall home.

Mr Davis, who lived just metres away from Frazier-Doody, died of severe head injuries inside his house, in Hobley Street.

A prison van carrying Frazier-Doody delivered her to the court, in North Street, just after 8am today.

She bowed her head as she stepped into the rear court entrance.

The 35-year-old, who is married, has been in police custody since her arrest in connection with the murder on Tuesday. The murder investigation was launched after Mr Davis was found collapsed at his home on Sunday.

The former worker of Willenhall firms Josiah Parkes and Charles Perks, was last seen at 9am on Sunday in his front garden. A neighbour took some lunch round to his house at about 3.15pm.

Neighbours became concerned that they could not rouse him at 6pm and found him collapsed.

A post mortem found that Mr Davis, who served in the Royal Navy, died as a result of severe head injuries.

Police have appealed for people in the Willenhall and Wednesfield areas to keep a look-out for discarded clothing, potentially bloodstained and hidden in a bin liner.
