Morrisons today took over Merry Hill's former Best Buy store with its new Kiddicare baby products chain – creating up to 70 jobs.
The supermarket giant has acquired 10 of the defunct electrical stores nationwide and aims to create 700 jobs in total.
It is understood that Best Buy's joint owner, Carphone Warehouse, has paid Morrisons to take over the leases of the stores, which it closed earlier this month after racking up big losses.
Kiddicare – which was bought by Morrisons in a £70 million deal last year – will now to invest around £15m in the new chain of stores around the UK. At the moment, it is mainly an online retailer.
