A man found collapsed outside his Cannock home has died, sparking a police probe.

Richard Sedgley, 37, was rushed to Stafford Hospital after he was discovered in Woottons Court, Stoney Croft, but died two days later.

Officers investigating his death say it is not being treated as suspicious but they want to trace Mr Sedgley's final movements. A post-mortem ruled he died of a head injury but police want to find out how he sustained the fatal impact.

Chief Inspector Carl Ratcliffe said: "I would urge anyone who has any information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, to contact us as it may help us in building a clear picture."

Residents of Woottons Court flats have been left shocked by the death. Mr Sedgley was found at 7.45am on Saturday but died in hospital at 1.30am on Monday.
