Britain's Got Talent star Jean Martyn has offered her services for free to help with Cannock's Christmas lights switch-on.

The town is faced with a shoestring budget for the festive celebrations. Town centre boss Natal Chapman said the lack of spending power was a result of not enough people and businesses supporting the local lottery scheme.

The shopping centre manager, who is also chairman of the Cannock Traders Association, says they have just enough money to cover the lights and fireworks for this year's switch-on show taking place on November 18.

Jean Martyn, who became an audience favourite in reaching the final of Britain's Got Talent this year, has promised to help out.

Jean, from Brewood, did her O-levels at Cannock Technology College and says it is a chance to "give back" something to the town.
