Murder inquiry launched after woman found dead at Stafford house

A murder investigation was under way today after a woman was found dead in a quiet street in Stafford.

Officers were called to a terraced house in Oxford Gardens just before 9am yesterday. A 50-year-old woman was found dead at the scene.

Detectives would not reveal what injuries she had suffered but said a man had been arrested and was still being questioned.

The victim has been named by people living locally as Sue Gray, a registered childminder who is believed to be a mother to a son and a daughter.
