A major in the Special Boat Service has been accused of stealing equipment belonging to the Ministry of Defence and selling it on ebay. Magistrates ruled that the man can only be identified as D.
The court order was made by Cannock Magistrates Court yesterday stating the defendant cannot be named.
He faces five charges in total for offences allegedly committed over a period of four years between 2006 and 2010. He did not appear before the court.
The defendant, 'D', has previously pleaded not guilty to two charges of theft and to one charge of fraud by false representation.
He also denies two charges of concealing, disguising, converting, transferring, or removing criminal property – one of which related to selling items on ebay.
The theft charges relate to accusations of stealing watches, stationary, clothing and military equipment belonging to the Ministry of Defence as well as stealing a passport belonging to someone else.
A charge of fraud by false representation relates to an allegation that the accused was in possession of clothing and equipment intending to make a gain from them.
The case of 'D' has been committed to Stafford Crown Court for November 28.
